IT’S ALL THE RAGE! is a feature documentary film now in production that takes a hard look at the sources of today’s extreme social and political polarization and points us toward a number of viable solutions.
Inspired by Amanda Ripley’s landmark book HIGH CONFLICT, the film explores how partisan media companies—what Ripley calls “conflict entrepreneurs”—profit from our division, fear, and outrage. It also examines the powerful role humiliation plays in deepening polarization, and how shifting from merely listening to truly understanding can help bridge the divide between opposing sides.
Featuring stories of everyday Americans striving to bridge the widening divide between the Right and the Left, the film highlights remarkable individuals who are taking meaningful action in response to our polarized times. As Amanda Ripley notes, people, organizations—and even nations—can break free from high conflict. Our protagonists are working to reduce outrage and contempt, replacing them with respect and dignity in an effort to make conflict constructive rather than corrosive.
